A WOMAN who lost her partner in a tragic naval accident has organised a charity music festival in honour of his memory.
Neal "Noel" Edmonds, from Ford, was only 42 when he died while trying to fix a food lift on board the Royal Navy ship in Devonport Naval Base on June 11 2014.
An inquest held in June, 2014 heard how Neal was a leading engineer technician for the Royal Navy and died when he became trapped in a food lift on board HMS Bulwark when he was trying to repair it.
He was treated on board the ship by paramedics but later died from his wounds at the scene, according to South West Ambulance Service.
Emma West, who lives in Ham, created Noelfest after organising an event for friends and family last year and raising £13,000 for Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion.
She already has a tattoo dedicated to Neal's memory, in which his ashes were combined with the ink.
"It's a way of celebrating his life," The 42-year-old explained, "It will be a day of laughs, booze and great music, just what Neal loved.
"Organising it all is keeping me occupied, it all still feels so real to me, and to be honest after last year's event everybody was asking me what I had planned for 2016. He wouldn't want me moping around."
This year the all-day music event will be open to the public and will take place on the anniversary of his death - with all proceeds from ticket sales going directly to military charity, Care after Combat.
Emma said: "As ex-military myself, I wanted to find a different charity from last year. They do some really amazing work."
Tickets cost £20 for adults and £5 for kids and come in the form of a keyring with an anchor and "Noelfest" imprinted on them.
Tickets and raffle tickets can either be bought by contacting Emma on e-mail at ejw220373@msn.com or by visiting this link.
