Beans On Toast is the stage name of British folk singer Jay McAllister as well as a delicious lunchtime treat! But seriously Jay rose to fame on the UK folk scene in 2005 and you would be mad to miss him in Plymouth. His songwriting openly deals with the topics of politics, drugs and love. Jay is a man who works hard, releasing a 50-track double album in 2009. Working with Mumford and Sons, Jay is someone who likes to make a noise and a point and everyone loves beans on toast, don't they?!
Wednesday 2 December, Exeter Westpoint, alt-J
You better be quick because tickets are selling fast but you would be a fool not to see Mercury prize winners, alt-J, at a rare south west gig. The geek-chic trio have never done things by the book which is why they have awards under their belt and a number one album. This Is All Yours, second album, sees the boys experimenting with almost every sound you can think of but what's great about alt-J, is that it always works. Do not miss out!
Thursday 3 December, Plymouth Pavilions, The Vaccines
But it's not just Exeter that is attracting huge names, four-piece The Vaccines, will play their rescheduled gig next week in Plymouth. Their fast and furious brand of giddy rock 'n' roll could almost be the sound of the Libertines and Ramones falling down the stairs at 100mph! Their second album, Come Of Age, reached number one in 2012 and the highly anticipated third release English Graffiti hit the shelves this year. Get your tickets fast!
Friday 4 December, The Hub, Beardyman
As if all that wasn't enough, London musician, DJ, comedian and all round nice guy, Beardyman, will be popping into The Hub. Darren Forman is known for his extraordinary beatboxing and use of live loops. He uses various methods, including vocoders and synths, to create complex tracks using just his own vocals. According to the BBC, he is the 'king of sound and ruler of beats.'
